Young People Services

We provide confidential services to all of our patients including young people, even if you are under 16 years of age.

Confidentiality means you have a right to your personal and medical information being kept private, safe, secure and shared with your permission only. This even includes your visit to the GP surgery. Your permission to share the information is called ‘consent’.

We may need to share this information, for you to get more support or because there is a need to keep you or someone else safe. If this is needed, we will normally do this after a discussion with you, to agree what is to be shared and with who. We sometimes have to share information without consent but wherever possible we would still try and involve you in this.

You can talk to a GP (doctor) about so many different things no matter what your age.

Here are a few ideas of what you can talk to us about:

  • Abusive behaviour – verbal, physical or sexual;
  • Acne
  • Alopecia
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Bullying
  • Carers [link to young carers page]
  • Contraception
  • Drugs & alcohol
  • Feeling low or depressed
  • Period problems
  • Relationships
  • Self-harm
  • Sexuality
  • Sexual Health
  • Smoking & vaping
  • Stress

You can make your own appointment and be seen on your own even if you are under 16 years old.

You can bring a friend or a parent or anyone you trust.

You can book an appointment by calling us on 020 3302 3007, using our online request form or the NHS app or coming to reception and asking in person.

There will always be appointments in the next 3 to 4 weeks available to book. Sometimes that might feel a long time away so if you are very worried about something, let the receptionist know and they will try to help to get the right option for you. If you want to speak privately, let them know and they will find a quiet space for you to talk.

We can change the contact details on your notes so that we only message you.

If you are unsure, ask anyone at the practice and we will try to help.

There are also lots of other services that we can connect you with and if you look at our online options there is an button to click on that takes you directly to lots of services you can self-referral to – scroll down the list to see all the different options and links. Health Talk is a really helpful website where younger people share experiences about living with various conditions and how they manage this. Kooth offers mental health support for young people.

We have free condoms available (we do not ask your age). Just ask at reception (they will be very discreet) or in your appointment and we can give you a few in a paper bag to take away with you there and then.

We know that it can be difficult to always know what to do, so if you are unsure just ask and if we don’t know the answer we can find out and contact you later with more information.
